Story about a woman helping dogs and trying to teach pet owners to care for their pets. Maybe someday in the distant future, my species will have evolved enough to revere all of life, and other species will have the full protection of the law. Got Another Story Published!!
Just received an acceptance from AlienSkin Magazine and they pay. Will post the link when it’s published – supposed to be April/May issue. Got to keep it going.
Spent all afternoon recommending and reading friend articles. Wouldn’t you know, the friend I know personally – I forgot. Joanie, I will do right by you. Thanks for your comment.
Well, I’m still procrastinating, but did join eHow and am in the process of writing articles. Didn’t realize the only real way to make money is, for the most part on this and other sites like it, means reviewing and recommending “friends” articles and then they return the favor. You’d have to have great marketing, etc. to get articles out on the web and in a 1st page Google search so people with a genuine interest in reading your articles can find you.
Very important, but very sad and depressing op-ed report in the NY Times (also published on Huffington Post) (link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/06/opinion/06herbert.html) regarding US economy and infrastructure debacle. Unfortunately, I think the meeting discussed in the article will not be heeded and the US will become a second rate economy in a decade (probably less that that).
Still struggling with unemployment – hello out there? As for my unemployment adventures, signed up for and attended first day of free HHA training. Disaster. What a miserable job, for me at least. Would love to become an Autopsy Assistant, but dealing with live veggie humans – gross and humiliating, not to mention the unlivable salary. Am caught in the classic “Catch 22” scenario: old enough for SS but not old enough to earn a decent living and collect SS at the same time. So, have to try to wriggle my way out – calling a maid service to see if they need cleaners, try the PCA training – AND CONTINUE WITH MY WRITING. The creative writing is the only thing that may really pay.
Shame on me!! I’m still procrastinating. But I did send some poetry out and still have 3 stories out; another is coming as soon as I decide what magazine to send it to.
They called it global warming, unaware that the feverish planet was trying to rid itself of its humanity.
Midnight Soliloquy
by L.A. Mahoney
Fortune hath played me for a strumpet.
The follies of my youth,
like abused and murdered children,
doth plague mine every moment.
At night I hold converse with mine own head,
as Hamlet with Yorick’s; a cat for Horatio.
I hath given my lot in life such husbandry
as befits not even a comet in the heavens;
nor shall the worms have good compost.
At last an article that addresses the real inconvenient truth: population control: http://www.financialpost.com/story.html?id=2314438
A happy note to my otherwise miserable “searching for a job” days: publication on October 21, 2009 in
